Here it comes again! Nearly ten years later to the day. WTF?! Some truths must be delt with in person.

I started writing this on June 14th, 2017.

Here it comes again!  Nearly ten years later to the day.  WTF?! Some truths must be dealt with in person.  I think?  My sister’s death.  June 21, 2007.   Dad, to me, “Have a nice life.” -June 2017.  Not sure what that ment.  Never will now as though it seems.  Had always gotten along with my dad but he lived in denial about my mom.  Lots of resentment and anger left behind.  Trying to figure how to clean up that mess.  My weird humor just makes me laugh out at how things turned out.  What-the-Fuck!  I think that was the call I didn’t want to make.  Would rather have avoided.  But, did.

Now that leaves just a couple of things to tidy up that mess and then let it rest in peace like I should have done the day of her funeral.  I so was afraid of what I might say, or do.  Embarrass them in front of whoever showed up.  Maybe I could have let it rest then and missed my opportunity, the stage was set that is for sure.  I have a way of putting things that can cause an earthquake of a response which is usually why I’m the quiet one.  Let people figure it out on their own, be there to bandage up the wounds if necessary.  Clarity comes from experience.

Father failed to recognize mother has a problem and blamed my sister and I for all of it I now realize.  Part of me thinks he is glad we are gone.  That is a hard one to wrap around since I presented science not emotion as evidence.  Completely, ignored.  One of the most disapointing moments in my life.  Not sure what to do, I’ll go on with life as usual and leave them to themselves.  I will visit my sister and cross that bridge that we couldn’t cross before.  That will be another part of the story for the future.

One thing is for sure, I miss my sister.  -13

Homemade, Do-It-Yourself, S&W J-Frame Moon Clip Holder – Carrier.

Uh-oh, another, thought I’d done this already! What the hell is going on in my head!

On topic!  Here is my Works-For-Me moon clip carrier.  Cannot believe how well it works!  For me.  Thinking mostly everything is in the video so I’ll make some brief notes here.

MC8

S&W 642 J-Frame size.

MC4

I had everything on hand for this project.  The medicine bottles, specimen tubes, hot melt glue and small screws.

MC6

Tools required, some type of saw that will saw brittle plastics.  A way to drill.  A screwdriver.

The reason I didn’t make the specimen tube shorter (2″) is because the bullet part of the round came into contact with the tube lid.  In addition, the bottle seems to be tapered, so the further the rounds were inserted the tighter they became.  To much for a quick release.

Next ones I’ll make will use larger stainless screws.  So far I have not had any problems with these at all.  Currently I’m experimenting with bat grip tape wrapped around the bottle.  So far the results are promising but time will tell.  Let me know what you think.  Thank you for checking out my stuff.  -13

Here’s the video.

Vacuum Sealer Project: Pill Pack for Medication

This Preparedness – Prepper – Hiker Vacuum Sealer Tip may get you arrested.  Sensational title but true.  Those of us who take multiple pills whether they’re prescription medications or supplements often use those multi-dose/day pill containers.  Doing so could get you arrested, maybe prosecuted.  Prescription medications are supposed to remain in their original container according to the law as I understand it.

There are all sorts of possibilities which is why the only advise I ever give anyone is, seek the advise of legal counsel and medical professionals before you do whatever it is you’re up to.

I made these pill packs originally for backpacking/hiking trips and as a way to carry a small amount of vital medications on my person at all times.  Ever miss your ibuprofen, antihistamine or whatever because you didn’t have it with you?  Yeah me too but no longer.  Plus it helps save money buying in bulk and having to not throw out medications stored improperly.

I make up a new pack/s every time I have to open bulk meds.  Usually fill one or two of the individual pouches and then put the rest in a larger pouch for long-term storage.  I always include the name of the drug/supplement, type/concentration, lot number and expiration date.  I never separate this information from anything I place in these pouches until I’d consumed the contents.  It’s very important to keep them together.

IMG_0064[1]

Things I find helpful to have on hand, a red sharpie makes it easier for me to see the marks so I can line them up with the heat sealer portion of the vacuum sealer.  A funnel helps with precise placement of the pills.  I have a short extension of soft plastic tubing but couldn’t find it for the video.  It’s good for reaching to the deepest part of the pouch when trying to get pills that want to grab the pouch material instead of slide.

To make the pill packs I use an 11″ vacuum sealer roll like the rolls in this link.  2 Pack – SimpleHouseware 11″ x 50′ Commercial Vacuum Sealer Rolls Food Storage Saver Compatible to Foodsaver Sous Vide (total 100 feet) To make the template I used microsoft publisher then converted it into a downloadable PDF file located here.  PILL PACK DIVIDER INDIVIDUAL DOSE TEMPLATE  When looking at the template the top  and bottom two boxes are larger than the center boxes.  They’re larger to account for the various size factory sealed edges.

I laminated my second printing for durability because the first one was getting beat up from use, and also added a grommet to hang up or bind with other similar items.

Expired meds shown in the video are kept past their expiration date if preserved correctly following the DoD Shelf Life Extension Program.  I would include a link but the government has removed them.  Not sure how you’ll get that info now I don’t have anything to share at the time of this posting.  Research it maybe you’ll find something.

Everything else I think, is in the video.   Check it out. -13

DUCKS IN A ROW.

So much for my documenting getting it done.  I get into the projects and don’t want to stop.  One thing/project leads to the other I’m so far behind with my plans.  Next thing I know I’m waking up ready to go for more.  Given the time, the materials and it’s going to get done.  Have to get better with the note’s/blogging.  All the sitting around has been driving me crazy and I don’t want to get near a computer for fear of getting distracted.  It did inspire me to start the dash cam YouTube channel.  Did get some of my gear repackaged and labeled.  That will be another blog for sure.

Then there are those simple truths that life has a way of teaching us when we reflect.  Sure does make you wonder doesn’t it. It can all happen anyway no matter how hard you try to make it turn out differently despite the goals you set, promises made, education level, or experience. Sometimes, seem to make it worse. Never imagined landing in this space but I’m here. What the hell is it about that truth all up in my face! Understanding a whole new level of myself and why I’m like I am.  Apprehensive to attempt to influence in any way based on the past attempts.  What feels like altruistic intentions blows up in my face.  Wondering what to do, or should I do anything at all.

Had to add this onto the original post.  Not sure why I’ll do it but several post I’d thought I’d published, werent.  Thought I’d clicked the publish button but didn’t then find myself wondering how did I do that. I think I’d clicking to see the preview and confusing the two.  Who knows?  I’m all over the place trying to catch up with everything.   I’ll have to put maintaining my sanity at the top of the to-do list.  -13

Daily Log:1 Non-original, new idea for me to note progress.

First it has came to my mind to simply list what I tick off my list or add on along the way.  Not tracking project progress just making notes of what was done on a particular day since I can’t always remember the extras.  I’m often working off a list but also fit in little projects here and there then wonder what I’ve done with my time.

I was once going to try to blog it everyday but that doesnt always work on my very odd schedule.  This will help though with short notes.  I’ll add or seperatly blog anything that requires a paragraph or more.

  • Hosed off carport, driveway, sidewalk
  • Moved dying orchids to another location in mostly shade under the carport.  Will have to water regularly since they’ll get minimal rain.  Maybe I can salvage them.
  • Cleared yard debris, the palm fronds never stop falling in south Florida, or the coconuts.  The plumeria are in full bloom, along with the jasmine, the scent drifting in the air is intoxicating
  • Vacuumed the van, not too dirty this time.
  • Potted plants watered.
  • Cleared all personal plants from the side of the house.  Complete!
  • NOTE: Late afternoon light is shinning next to the entry door I may have to move the orchids that I’m trying there.

The Truth about the Cobra CDR 840 Dash Camera. My experience.

The truth about the Cobra CDR 840 dash camera like no other.  If you would really like to know more about this camera and my experience just watch the video and you’ll see how I really feel about this dash camera.  Sometimes, there are no words to express an experience, you have to be there, or, watch the video.   The video is a little long but I don’t think I left anything out.  Hope this little video helps you make your purchasing decision wiser.  One small tip, use a 64 GB card if you want to capture over one hundred 3 minute videos so the auto over record doesn’t delete the footage from earlier in the day.  -13

Wow over 10,000 views on my compost sifter video! I can’t believe it!

I can hardly believe the numbers.  I’ve been messing around over at YouTube getting things in order over there, trying to understand things better and clicked on the wrong button.  It went to the first page of my videos.  When I was checking out the views on the videos listed I couldn’t believe how many views my compost sifter had.  It’s really exciting to see that there are many people interested in composting and possibliy organic gardening.  Really hope my video inspires and lifts people up.  -13

Dash Cam: Car Wash.

South Florida Driving 101 goes to the Car Wash.  Made a video at one of the places I’ll stop by to get a quick wash.  Usually works and cleans it up all shinny but not too sure the undercarrage wash is working since I can’t hear or feel the water hitting the underside of the car.  Tried the split screen thing for a couple of the wide shots, also for the side view.  Didn’t turn out how I would have liked but it works.

Picture1

What surprised me was how long it is.  Couldn’t figure out how to make it shorter using editing.  I could have sped up the playback speed but tried it and it was to jerky and had a dizzying effect.  Don’t think making peoples head spin watching a video might be good.  Somebody might get sick.  It’s better everyone has a good time.

I wanted to get a better angle to capture more of the side motion but there is no place to mount the camera’s in the car where they need to be placed to get that kind of footage.  I may get it using a mini van if I can mount the cameras but that, is another project to add to the list. -13

Dash Cam: Compilation 13, 14, 15

South Florida Driving 101 Dash Cam Compilation 13, 14, 15 are online.  13 has the usual no signal kind of stuff with plenty of cut-offs.  14 of course includes all the no signal cut-offs it also has “confused?” which features a truck with turn signal in use completely change directions and “what is going on up there” featuring a driver having a hard time getting between the line.  Then there is “pedestrian crossing” with a little humor and word play.  15 features another “follow me” fool that deserves special attention for making everyone wait and cutting off the entire intersection to avoid doing it the right way.  There is a near miss and perfect demonstration of why to use indicator signals and blind spots.  There are a couple of consistency bad drivers on exhibit as well.  Another rearview montage.  An old man tying his shoes never looks for traffic, just up and walks into the path of bicycle, lucky old man.  Also a close call with a tractor-trailer

On the iMovie learning side of things I’ve discovered that when using picture-in-picture pressing the command key allows movement of the image without snapping to those annoying lines that wouldn’t let me line things up the way I wanted.  The other precision movement thing learned was that if I expanded the timeline out as much as it allowed I could get exact placement on any item.  I found this to be particularly helpful when trying to get my audio timing perfect.  Thats all I can think of for now.  -13

Dash Cam: Compilation 11 & 12

South Florida Driving 101 Dash Cam Compilation 11 & 12 are online.  Finally.  Marathon edit underway!  Catching up and trying to keep up with only a few days not a weeks worth of editing for this project.  Nearly there, maybe this weekend will do it!  I think I’m going to have to cut the blog post for the videos down to once a week so there will be much more to write about and to make it eaiser to keep up with.  Seems like a week-in-review kind of thing, happenings by the week, not moment.  Nothing new to note with my iMovie education this post.  Enjoy! -13

Dash Cam: Compilation 10

South Florida Driving 101 Dash Cam Compilation 10.  This lesson includes a close encounter with “Suddenly -Jet Blue”, and plenty of no signal lane changes.  A little Design District “drive-by-art”, both the north and south side.  “Bug Problems” a place where there are 6 Orkin cars-trucks parked in front.  Makes me wonder what kind of problem they have that needs such a response.

Figured out that the red dot placement on the iMovie world map can be placed at a generally specific location yet have a custom label.  For instance, I choose Miami Florida as a location to get the red dot to display toward the southern part of Florida but change the display name to whatever I want to.  Not a big deal I know but I recently figured it out and wanted to make note of it.  If you go back through the first videos you can see the difference.  Think I figured out the freeze frame thing, I think?  Still trying to refine how to keep the continuity but keep the story brief so everything makes sence. -13

Dash Cam: Compilation 9

South Florida Driving 101 Dash Cam Compilation 9.    Lesson 9 already and a “stack” of digital files waiting to be edited.  Thank you to dK2 for bring us this footage.  What can be recorded on one camera on a trip to Miami and back.  More bad drivers than I could ever imagine.  Used to be a time when these kind of drivers weren’t so readily available.  Clearly that is not the case anymore.

Almost half of the footage is on Miami Beach or trying to get off the beach.  The rest of the footage is the typical kind of driving experience one can expect during any south Florida drive.  Then there are the drivers you hope you never meet in person and have to wonder how they obtained a driver’s license.

iMovie is easy to use but still gives me trouble when I’m trying to be precise placing a freeze frame.  Not sure why I have so much trouble but will figure it out.  Also moving object are still giving me a hard time trying to follow with moving signs.  No matter it is all fun.  Enjoy the bad driving. -13
